If you're looking for a fun road that has fantastic twisties, little-to-no traffic, and a speed limit of 45 that you won't want to exceed by much, check out Joplin Road going from Triangle to Woodbridge. It's worth the drive for sure! Some exciting changes of direction and incline and I didn't get stuck behind a single person. No potholes, either. I was out that way getting a fluid pump at Harbor Freight and had a bit too much fun pumping fluids last night...

But yeah, much closer than mountain roads and much better than Great falls/Southern MD.

Next time I'm going to Alexandria for work I'll be sure to take the Uplander (full of loosely secured parts and tools) through there and let everyone know how it goes.

Thats a fun road to drive. Another good one is going down Aden (it meets Joplin at Bristow road) take that to the 4-way stop turn left on to fleetwood and that will take you all the way down to rt 610 in Stafford. When not behind someone who is going 10 under its a blast.

It is part of a local commute "short cut" for some folks so watch out for traffic accordingly.

Awesome! It's cool for an eastern VA road, but not quite as good as what you might stumble on out towards WV. Also, jvirgs says Aden road which meets Joplin is a good one if you're in the area—I'll have to check it out myself.

Yeah, I ended up getting a Volvo S50 flyby at the beginning part of the road when I was there. I was taking it easy, but I only passed 5 or so cars on the entire road. That was a Saturday at around 12:00, though.

I'll have to check them out. I spend most of my time in central/western VA, but we're doing Thanksgiving over in that direction this year.

Oh ok. I'm in right outside of DC and driving quickly becomes a chore within a 20 mile radius. My grandparents are out in Winchester and as you keep moving out in that direction things get nicer.

Yeah, I definitely get it. My Alexandria cousins always come out to Amherst to enjoy the roads. Nice to find changes of pace.

Just gotta keep an eye out for park police (unlikely, though it's been a while since I worked there...), MPs from Quantico, and commuters.

Most commuters I've seen on it have been tailgating me at 10 over (I'm also a commuter, and really can't afford tickets) or pull away quickly.
